Security Administration

Data security is the protection of data against unauthorized disclosure, transfer, modification, or destruction, whether accidental or intentional. RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) is a software security product that protects information by controlling access to it. RACF also controls what the user can do and protects all of the operating system's resources. RACF provides this security by identifying and verifying users, authorizing users to access protected resources and recording and reporting access attempts.

Security Administrator will maintain the resources necessary to meet the security objectives. The Administrator has the overall responsibility, using the technology available, to transform the objectives of the security policy into a usable plan.

Maintec has capability to perform following Security Administration Tasks remotely:

• Installation & maintenance of RACF & other security related software.
• Administer & maintain RACF Databases.
• Installation & maintenance of RACF installation exit routines.
• Plan how to use RACF, which includes deciding which resources are protected and which users and groups are known to RACF.
• Administer security to meet an installation's security goals.
• Definition of Users & Resources to RACF.
• Authorization of users to access the protected resources.
• Control the means of access to resources.
• Log and report various attempts of unauthorized access to protected resources.
• Perform daily administration tasks, such as giving users access to the system (assigning user IDs and passwords) and giving users access to system resources or functions.
• Coordinate with other administrators, such as the tape librarian.
